FRESH OFF MY EASEL

Champagne Cheers!!

1o x 20 Oil on Linen

Break out the champagne!  Cheers everyone as I have so much to celebrate and am so thankful for all the wonderful things that have been happening and are coming my way!  Who says hard work doesn't pay off?  I discovered this fabulous and fun rose champagne through friend Nancy Franke.  Just had to purchase some but wanted to paint it first because it is so pretty!    I loved painting that gorgeous light shining through the champagne bottle and adore this painting.   It is sitting on my easel and I will be sad to see it go.  For me it is gorgeous light and just a celebration painting of how rich our lives can be.   I love painting in this pretty higher key with lots of gorgeous light and color!

I am so excited to share with y'all that when I did the Emerging Artist Show at the Anne Irwin Gallery back in August they honored me by inviting me back for the Small Works Show that runs the whole month of December. I am thrilled to join their "big artists" for a special Small Works Show and look forward to opening night on Friday, December 7th.  Mark your calendars!  They throw amazing opening nights and hope you will join me at Anne Irwin Gallery,690 Miami Circle in Atlanta.

On the painting below...Always looking to paint that light on things and this was fabulously fun!!   I did try the scotch, very smooth- gave Jim Richards the cigar!  Painting should be fun, right?!

Here's what's blooming...

These Snowball Hydrangeas are blooming in my yard and I was so happy to paint them.  I don't have  a green thumb but am learning!  Loved laying one down to change up the composition.  I am just so drawn to these soft neutral colors and a higher key palette.   I think I love that this can go anywhere.

Yay!  Feeling all Fancy!!  And this is my photo from the professional photo shoot that was so fun!  Arts Day link with all the gorgeous artwork and the artists is here!!  It's a great way to support the High Museum of Art.  Now you see why I said we all need champagne!  Tulips Square Dance, 12 x 12, Available at High Museum Arts Day.

Georgia Bulldawgs and Collegiate Corner!

I have an official NCAA Georgia Football Helmet from when I worked as a Coach at the Georgia Athletic Department and have been itching to paint it.    I loved it!!  I set it up with amazing light on the face mask and love all that gorgeous red from shadow to highlight!  I plan on doing a series of these and am already being asked to paint other schools.   I would be honored to paint your favorite schools helmet- just holler at me and let's get going on it!!

Bubba Watson, Miracle Shot at the Masters, 30 x 40 Oil on Linen

TEE IT UP!  Golf Gallery

I was so honored when a collector contacted me about painting a large commissioned piece of my friend and favorite PGA Tour player, Bubba Watson.  He had seen the painting I did awhile back of Bubba and wondered if I would be willing to paint the famous miracle shot that helped Bubba win The Masters.  We made sure to have the proper permission to use photo and off I went.  I did several sketches and value studies and was so glad to have Mentor Jim Richards to help guide me through if I needed it.   I had so much fun painting this and just love how it turned out.  Many days and days of patient painting and working on all the different aspects and I am so proud of it.  I probably nailed Bubba the easiest as I knew him and could get that golfer body and swing position.  I was less confident with the massive gallery of people all along both sides and Jim helped me learn to mass them and pick out shapes.   I know Bubba's caddy, Teddy, and wanted him to also be right in there with Bubba so pulled him into the painting a bit more.  My collector told me he is blown away and is extremely happy and thrilled.   I am too!  Proud of my friend Bubba for winning the Masters and loved getting to say something about that with paint!

Commission Corner

I have been so blessed with this art world to meet some of the most amazing new collectors that turn into very special friends.  This is a wonderful local dynamo  named Meg and we just hit it off from day one.  Meg  was kind enough to think of me for a wonderfully generous commissioned gift for some friends.  The painting above is from Eleuthera and Meg had me paint it for some friends who just bought a second home there.  I say the real gift is knowing Meg!   I love doing commissions and being a part of all that special gifting!  I would love to work with you too!

Monthly Spotlight:

Gumball Wizard, 11 x 14 Oil on Linen

Here's why!   I must just love red...And this just called to me.  It was fun and different and unique and I just had to paint it.  Thanks to friend Martha, who brought it to Nancy's small workshop- I got hooked on the first one and had to go buy my own gumball machine.  This is the second one I have done and I just adore it!  Happy and fun and love all the shifts in the glass globe.   I am just praying someone asks me to paint a huge one for them.   I would be honored and love that!!
