FRESH OFF MY EASEL

Greetings! I am loving this time of year and can feel so many things coming together for me since the Sherrie McGraw workshop and continuing my mentorship with Jim Richards.  I am going to get right to the paintings as there are lots of new ones!   I am on a peony painting mission!  Peony Entanglements was beautiful to paint- loved the light on the peonies and also shining through the stems that were all entangled.  Working on that gorgeous accurate brushwork with teacher Jim and now studying leaves too!  Love it and am so lucky!    The painting below is a Magnolia from the UGA Golf Course- went out with Dave to watch NCAA's and see all my old coaching buddies....I saw these stately Magnolias and Dave got me a few.  I was fascinated by all the light and shadow in the showy white petals!   And lastly, "Keeper" Copper with Peonies is so rich and gorgeous in person and just about killed me- my brain was so tired of seeing all the gorgeous colors reflecting in that copper it made the difficult peonies seem like a walk in the park:)  Love "Keeper"!  Hope Y'all do too!

Monthly Spotlight:

Sterling Silver Pot with Lemons and Sugar Cubes, 12 x 12, Oil on Linen

Here's why!  I thought Copper kicked my fanny but along came this gorgeous antique sterling silver with the richest patina and I was a gonner!  Had to paint it...what an oppurtunity to learn and as Jim Richards says- I always "play up"!  Thanks to my neighbor who let me "borrow it" for a few days.

 Here's What's Blooming:

Peonies and don't you forget it!!!  Ha!  Seriously I have loved painting one of the prettiest flowers that I know of .  These were through my special friend Meg Dure and her mother's roses are in the one below.  Something special about painting homegrown flowers!  I am blessed in so many ways!  Oh- and love the antique French Water Pot from Provence:)

Gallery Gazing:

I thought I would add a new section to highlight my paintings that are hanging in gorgeous galleries.  I love and appreciate art galleries and how hard they work to share art!  Closest to home is the Sunshine Gallery partnering with Ashford Manor in historic downtown Watkinsville to share and introduce art to many more folks.  I got a call and was asked if I had a few paintings to hang in these gorgeous old homes right on Main Street.  Please contact the galleries for more info!
