Oil Paintings and News

Using paint to say something…tell a story and capture that beautiful moment.

"Sunlit Sail"

Fresh Off My Easel!

I feel like time is just sailing right by and I want to make every moment count!  Painting "Sunlit Sail" with that gorgeous light just warming the sail was so beautiful to me.  I enjoyed painting with complimentary colors and all the blues just harmonize so well.  I especially like the way the water is painted and that there is so much to look at in the painting. It is a big ole' 20 x 24 Oil on Linen and can be found on my website under Boats and Seascapes here.  Hope you enjoy as we take a sail around my art through this newsletter.

A quick recap on my very first big Show at the Anne Irwin Gallery.   It was beyond anything I could have dreamed of.  The Gallery was lit up like a Broadway Show with gorgeous artwork and fabulous artists everywhere.   Anne Irwin and Sybil Wornall went  the extra mile to make all the artists and their art feel like they were rock stars.    What an honor to be a part of such a truly special show.

It was truly a celebration for all and I was so glad that my family and so many friends could come.  I loved having some quiet time at the end of the show with Anne and Sybil is a joy to work with.  I was honored to have my paintings hanging at Anne Irwin Gallery and love looking toward the future and what is coming about.  Stay Tuned!!  Very inspiring.

Here's what's blooming...

"Fresh Cut" was one that was juried into the Anne Irwin Show.  I was so honored when it was chosen for some of their marketing for the show!  I had such fun painting all the different flowers and shapes and love the composition of it.  The colors just harmonize beautifully and I love this one.  That southern julep cup is a family treasure too.   There are different floral paintings and some in my sunlit window sill on my website under Still Life's.

Georgia Bulldawgs and Collegiate Corner!

Are you ready for some Georgia football?! I am so glad we won our first game on Saturday!  I love painting these University of Georgia Bulldogs and scenes from the UGA campus. I feel such a connection being an Alumni and former Georgia Coach!  Besides  one of my larger paintings of UGA III hanging in Butts Mehre on campus,  I am working on some other projects with The Georgia Bulldog Club!  This "Big Dawg Sic' Em" is a personal favorite and is 16 x 20 Oil on Linen.  I have fun capturing the character and think they have a sophistication that makes for charming fine art.  Yup!...I just love my dawgs!  Who could not love the close up of that face below!

I had the best time hanging out with Russ and of course, the Seilers too!  I am honored to be the only person who has done an oil painting officially of Russ for the Seilers and treasure anytime I get to be around them.  It is really fun to watch Russ's mannerisms and love seeing all the little nuances in him.   I was telling Sonny that sometimes he looks so big to me and sometimes so little....Sonny replied in his gravely southern drawl that "Russ is a Biggggg Dawg!"  Yessir, He is!   I am so tickled Russ has been promoted to UGA IX and will have the honor of being called UGA.  I have painted all of the Georgia Bulldog Mascots at least once and of course, Russ many:).    As I said, I love painting my Dawgs and would be happy to paint one just for you to "adopt"!  To visit my Dawg Pound with all of my Georgia Bulldogs, Arches and Athens scenes on my website, under Collegiate Collection,  click here.

"Tee Time at the Masters", 12 x 12, Oil on Linen

TEE IT UP!  Golf Gallery

My golf life and my art world constantly intertwine and I am so excited to share some wonderful news.   I am  humbled and honored to have one of my oil paintings as the cover of Fore Georgia Magazine.  And that it is a painting of good friend and favorite PGA Tour Player, Davis Love III is like making birdie putts all day! Davis is the Ryder Cup Captain and then also hosts the McGladry PGA Tour event down at Sea Island in October.  I will be gifting the painting to Davis and Robin at the McGladry and have had a blast painting Davis in many different swing positions.  The man has one of the best swings on tour!

And if that is not enough golf and art for you yet, I am so excited to have a  Show of my Golf Paintings at the Anne Irwin Gallery  in Atlanta for the whole month of October!  Talk about Teeing it Up!!  I will have more information on those paintings in Golf Collections on my Website and on my FaceBook Fine Art Page as we get closer to time.   Suhh-weeeett!!

Commission Corner

There are so many wonderful ideas on things that would make an amazing painting for that special someone.  It would just give me a reason to paint that extra bulldog, golf course, outside of a home or sorority house...you name it!  I love to paint commissions and would be happy to get working on that original painting with  you.  Just let me know!

Monthly Spotlight:

Alternate Mode of Transportation, 12 x 16 Oil on Linen

Here's why!  I love painting big shapes with light on them.  The moment I saw this gorgeous ole' pink truck full of charm, I just knew I had to paint it.  This is the second time I have painted her and I love it even more.  Funny when you paint  originals, each one can be just a tad different with personality and character all it's own.  The sister painting to this one was all the rave at the Anne Irwin Show so I thought y'all might like an Alternate Mode of Transportation!!

While I am in the transportation mode...Take a peek at Shimmering Waterways below...Love that water!  Shimmering Waterways, 11 x 14 Oil on Linen is in my European Inspired works.

I have loved painting many new paintings that were European Inspired!  The wonderful compositions and gorgeous colors just  called out to me.  I hope you will enjoy my European Inspired Paintings here.
