Idle Hour

Isn’t that a fabulous name for a gorgeous golf course down in Macon, Georgia? Idle Hour is a special club and I always enjoy seeing favorite long time friend and Head Golf Professional, Ray Cutright there.
This is Number 18, an awesome Par 3 and an incredibly tough but fun finishing hole. As you can see it is all carry from that tee box at the back of the painting to the gorgeous green in the front. You better make sure you have enough club! To make it even more fun there is a wicked false front.Upon completion of this hole you can head directly into the sports bar for an adult beverage.
Idle Hour…we all need that.

A par 3 as a finishing hole. I can just hear the golfers in the sports bar cheering their friends on as they hope for a hole in one on this beautiful 18th green.. What a winner of a painting Kathy!

You are really able to achieve depth of field…I can just see the golfers walking the fairway. The reds in the trees really add a nice dimension to the piece. very lovely

Love it Kathy! You are really doing great on mixing those greens that are so difficult sometimes! Very calming and sounds like an appropriate name for a golf course.

LOVELY painting - your brushwork is the very finest. Love the depth of your shadows, too. The description is a little Greek to me, because I'm not a golfer, but it's fun trying to imagine what it means! What I DO understand is finishing and enjoying the adult beverage at the very end - hopefully with some laughter and camaraderie. And the name! You do work magic, girl…

Your trees and clouds are lovely. I love your loose strokes. This is a wonderful composition Kathy!

Kathy, this is heavenly! I'm not a golfer but I could just stand in this spot all day.Did you use a magic brush for these great shapes?

So cool that you are able to merge your two loves together. Beautiful piece and such a cool name for a course. Love your stories and insight.

Love the view from the green in this painting…and the color palette. A small world moment…my husband, Patrick, worked with your husband 20 years ago at the UGA golf course when he was a college student. I have heard the name Dave Cousart for years but just made the connection while I was reading your blog just now!
