I am always so honored when someone asks me to paint for them. It’s such a joy to be a part of that special gift giving and I love that! I have been busy painting quite a few secret special paintings and I so appreciate my collectors.
Here’s one I can share…This commission came about in such a special way for me. As an Alumni and Former Coach at the University of Georgia I have a deep affection for Georgia. It’s been extremely special to me for The Georgia Bulldog Club to use some images of my Bulldog paintings in their marketing materials. All that I asked was that my name be credited on the painting:) Well, this very sweet bulldog fan from the bulldog nation contacted me about doing a special commission for her husband. How cool is that?! I was super excited to paint this and loved how he turned out. Each and every bulldog turns out special and they are always so happy! I think that’s cause I am so happy painting them.
Big shout out of welcome for the little serendipities that come about through sharing and connections. I have a new fellow bulldog friend and appreciate that connection.

Fresh off my easel and continuing in my Southern Impressions Series this month. Family is so very important to me and I am sure most of you. We are a small but close family and so proud of our daughters. After they both were separated by playing collegiate golf at different schools we have loved having them both in Atlanta and back home so to speak. We are cheering on our older daughter as she accepts a huge promotion and moves the new love of our lives with her far away from Georgia to Texas. This little Southern Baby Boy has brought such joy into our lives and for that we are forever grateful. I just had to paint him and chose a sweet photo of him crawling around buck naked on the beach. We had just finished a photo shoot and there was no one else around- it was so special and fun to see him crawling in the shallow waves! I cropped the photo not sure that I wanted put the whole photo on the internet. Gotta respect my little ones privacy:)
I have gifted the painting to my Son in Law-trading it out for an early “not so good” cow painting that he keeps hiding from me. Hoping this will do the trick for a trade! Ha!
And this will be my last post until I return from Texas next week…no internet and gonna soak up every minute with the now gonna be Texas Baby Boy! Thanks Y’all!

Commonalities in Flowers and Friends…interesting to think about. Been painting a lot of the same flower lately -beloved Peonies-and it’s been so fun to see how they have a lot in common but each one is still so very different when you go to paint them. It’s like painting snowflakes!! I have learned a ton.
I was blessed that these two paintings went directly off my easel to a sweet friend that recently reconnected with me here in Athens. Got me to thinking about friends and how we find folks that we have some things in common yet but the treasures are in learning and in those differences I think. I am honored that she wanted both paintings and one is for her Mom and that really touched my heart. Painting these peonies has been pure joy and I sure do appreciate and am thankful for new collectors. Thanks N!

Amazing to think how very small the world is and how paths cross over and over again or just sometimes for that first time through magical connections. I have always believed that the Golf World and the Art World are so very similar in so many ways. Some of the finest folks I have known come from those worlds and I always love when common interests and passions are shared through golf or art. We can almost always connect to someone through just a few degrees of separation and cherish meeting friends of friends! I can’t share much about who bought this painting but it was certainly a very special connection that I was honored to hear about and more than humbled that this person choose my painting for their own home. I am so tickled to be at The Atelier Gallery in Charleston and am so happy to make them proud! Blessed and thankful!

Favorite time of year and favorite golf tournament starts today- The Masters in Augusta! Grew up skipping school and going every year and just love everything about Augusta National Golf Club. Last year was my favorite visit ever when both my Husband and Daughter walked through the “PGA Members Only” gate together. It was quite special. This painting was so much fun to do. That’s my Scotty Cameron putter along with lots of momentos from our trips to The Masters. Hope our UGA Alumna play great this week- pulling for Bubba, Harris, Russell, and Chris! Go Dawgs- Tee It Up!

So very special to paint my first born, Sarah Kate, holding her first born, Hagen. I wanted to capture that moment between mother and child and keep it very loose. I learned a ton painting this as I always do with each painting. I don’t paint many figures/portraits and especially not this big. I love how this turned out and teared up when mentor Jim Richards helped better define the outline of her face with one brushmark. All of a sudden it was my daughter. I was always taught that we are recognized by face shape first. How about that!
I had been wanting to paint a smaller painting of just Hagen’s face and the minute I saw this one with that sweet smirky smile- I knew it was the one! I had sketched it a few times and talked with Jim about placement. We also talked about not just sketching it out in detail but painting all the light and shadow shapes. I knew I could handle that part as I love painting light and shadow. I can tell how refined my “seeing” has gotten as I saw all these sweet little pops of color in that little face! I actually painted a study first that I was pretty darn proud of and Jim told me to stop and keep that one. Started this second one and it is my favorite painting ever. Could be the subject matter:) I learned a ton and always am thankful to be in a mentoring program with Jim Richards- I am lucky and I appreciate that I can try to paint anything and he’s right there with me! Can’t wait to try some more faces- this was too fun!!
I had the most fun at the “Farm to Table” Opening Night at dk Gallery on Friday. The Gallery looked gorgeous and the folks were all fun and loved the theme. It was so special to be a part of my Sunflowers from the Farm painting going to it’s new home. A very sweet young man purchased the painting for his Mom! How cool is that? She had been looking at it and he decided right there on the spot to get it for her as a surprise. I had spoken with her earlier about both sunflower paintings and she had told me why she liked this one better. Always love learning what draws people to paintings. I am all about “the Moms” so this new collector friend stole my heart. We kept it a secret but all her friends that were there for the show found out and were as excited as we were! Can’t wait to see it hanging and appreciate that John choose a painting from me for his mom. Very special indeed! Thanks to John and dk!

Commissioned Painting
A fabulous friend of ours who just happens to be a world famous photographer commissioned me to paint this sweet Bichon Frise’ for his wife. No pressure!:) He gave me some reference photos and requested that I put the Bichon right on Palm Beach. I love Bichons and also where they live in Palm Beach so it was a fun request! I especially wanted to capture that pretty gait that Bichons have and some character. I love painting in a higher key and this has a wonderful color harmony. They both loved it and were very happy! I always appreciate the trust and opportunity when someone allows me to paint for them!
If you have something in mind that you would like painted…I would love to work with you! Please send me an email at [email protected]. Thanks!

MoooooooWhoooooooo! That’s A LOT of cows in this painting! Fun yet hard to paint them with their black and white markings in light and shadow. I had forgotten how long it took me to do a different painting with a bunch of cows the first time around. I had that first cow painting hanging in a wonderful Bed and Breakfast in downtown Watkinsville through Sunshine Gallery. A collector was having breakfast and loved the painting but wanted a bigger size. I was game and had fun changing up the composition and format just a bit for them. That same collector also purchased the big 40 x 40 floral below, “Come to my Window”, so I was happy to do a favor! Thanks to all involved and just fun living in a small town where everyone works together.

This is one of my paintings that had the pleasure of hanging for a very short time at the beautiful, historic Ashford on Main. I was asked recently by Sunshine Village if I had a few large paintings and had fun helping hang them in the space. I had heard that someone just loved “Come To My Window” and that they just could not take their eyes off of it. That made me feel so very good as an artist- that my painting called to them that way! I just heard last night that it Sold and went to it’s new forever home and was very thankful indeed. I love painting flowers and putting them in a windowsill with sunshine is just a favorite thing for me to paint!
