14 x 18 Oil on Linen

$400.00

As promised…the big General Golf Course painting from the previous post study. I like working that way. Doing a small study helps get any issues worked out and you can just cruise right around the painting or in this case the golf course! The General is a beautiful golf course with striking mountain views and rich beautiful colors that just called to me. Everywhere you turn, the gorgeous saturated colors amaze me and they all work together to dazzle you. As always, I marvel at the way the architect designed the course to blend into the natural surroundings. Just a special place to go visit and play golf up at Barnsley Gardens- they do it right.

Little General Scout Study

6 x 8 Oil on Canvas

Study- NFS

One of my favorite things with my golf world is all the beautiful golf courses you get to visit and play. This is a study from the Little General Course up at Barnsley Gardens. The setting is gorgeous and the PGA Golf Pro is an absolute favorite all around great guy, Scott Mahr. I did this study to focus on designing a great composition with the information that I had. I always hope that my golf paintings read as beautiful landscapes and then someone realizes that it is a golf course setting.

Lots of “scouting and studies” going on here at my studio. It has been a whirlwind so far this year and I really appreciate all the comments and support on my new WP website and Blog- Thank you!

I just love painting everything but especially golf courses and the Big 5 Star General will be posted on Thursday! See y’all then!!

Cow Consultation

14 x 18 Oil on Linen

$300.00

This was a doozey of a painting with more cows then I could ever imagine trying to paint and I loved it! I had stopped on the side of the road and just had to meet this group. Next thing you know, they all headed toward me and looked like they were consulting on why I has stopped- cracked me up! This was just a small part of the group and I had so much fun with this one. Shapes, more shapes and lights and darks. I also knew it was going to be a bear to photograph and it was. Gorgeous in person and will try again to get a better photo- always hate when someone says that but understand at times tough with all the thick juicy paint and the darks.

Speaking of consultations, I had one today with Leslie Saeta and man was it amazing. I was over the moon by the time it was over with all the wonderful ideas and suggestions. Leslie was professional, had done hours of homework and came to the consultation prepared to dazzle me with creative ideas for me to share my artwork. I think we all paint, paint and paint and need some objective guidance on where to go from there. I loved the consultation and am already implementing as fast as I can and plan on this being my yearly check up if not more often. Leslie knows her marketing and our art world and I was grateful for all the personalized thoughtful help. Highly recommend!

Cart Barn

11 x 14 Oil on Linen

$250.00

I love painting landscapes and when I found this little cart barn with a golf cart under it, I just knew I had to paint it. I loved the light cutting across and hope that all our friends in the golf cart industry like this one. I will be curious if they can decide what type of golf cart that is! Can you?

My new website and blog are out of the cart barn and ready to go! We have customized just a few things to better integrate my blog and fixed the comment section. It was really important to me to have folks able to comment easily. I know you still need to enter in your name and email but I have found that does not take any longer than the word verification on blogger. If you don’t have a website/blog you can just leave that blank. And, most computers will remember that and you won’t have to fill it out but once. I am making some last changes to have the blog finished up and that includes adding in all my blog roll artists.

My blog will re-direct from blogspot but if you want to change it, the new blog address is kathycousart.com/category/blog/

Hope you all take a few minutes to check out my new website and blog. I will be glad to answer any questions about WordPress. I am loving it and have learned so much.

Crossroads
11 x 14 Oil on Linen
$250.00

Fun to paint and just loved the everyday feel of this scene. I have really been pushing myself with tougher compositions and lots of trees lately. I have to admit I could have foreclosed on it at one point and Jim came in to help guide me back off the railroad tracks! I thought this turned out quite charming.

I wanted to take just a moment to talk about another Crossroads for me. I did build my own iWeb a few weeks ago and was pleased but knew I would need to move it at some point. With a few small glitches that I needed help with it seemed like the right time to make the move. After learning tons and checking out all the options, I went with WordPress for both my new website and blog. I had worked with Matt Schwartz from Inspry Media before and felt really confident that we could build and integrate both the website and blog that I wanted to grow up with. Matt did a great job. It still needs a little tweaking and I am working hard on that now.

My new WordPress website and blog are launched and I am so pleased. I have a bit more work to do on the blog side but wanted to post this quaint painting. Please know that if you “follow’ me on blogger that you still will be following me here at WordPress. I am working to show my followers. Also, I will get my Blog Roll up later this week. If you want to subscribe to me by email you can go to the bottom of the page and see an option to do that. Thanks so much for your support and patience!

If you have any thoughts or questions- please feel free to comment or email me.

Idle Hour
11 x 14 Oil on Linen

$250.00

Isn’t that a fabulous name for a gorgeous golf course down in Macon, Georgia? Idle Hour is a special club and I always enjoy seeing favorite long time friend and Head Golf Professional, Ray Cutright there.

This is Number 18, an awesome Par 3 and an incredibly tough but fun finishing hole. As you can see it is all carry from that tee box at the back of the painting to the gorgeous green in the front. You better make sure you have enough club! To make it even more fun there is a wicked false front.Upon completion of this hole you can head directly into the sports bar for an adult beverage.

Idle Hour…we all need that.

Two and a Third by Leslie Saeta

I like to share things that I am learning about along the way and wanted to highlight one of my favorites that just won a prestigious Making A Mark Award!

One of the biggest resources for me has been the Artist Helping Artist Blog Talk Radio Show. It is hosted by Leslie Saeta and Dreama Tolle Perry. They both do a fabulous job with a variety of art related topics and interview some top notch artists and experts on their show. They do extensive research on many different topics and are so generous in sharing all that knowledge with us. Having been lucky enough to take their joint workshop last year, I feel like I am right there with them. You can check out all the different shows over on their blog and listen in to any of the 80 or so that interest you or catch them live on Thursdays at noon. Lunch and learn!
Congrats and thanks to Leslie and Dreama for giving up painting time to help other artists get where they want to be!!

Heading home
11 x 14 Oil on Linen
$250.00

You know how with certain friends and artists you just feel like you are at home and in the right place? That all came together for me with this painting. I want to thank Jim Richards for being a fabulous teacher and pulling together my horse above with several masterful strokes and walla… A beautiful horse was born! We laughed and I am lucky to be in the right place.

The heading home part comes in with heading back to my home state of South Carolina and getting to be with some truly special artist friends for a wonderful visit in Beaufort, South Carolina. The fabulous Jerry Stocks lives there and we were on our way with everyone’s favorite Kelley MacDonald to go see the incredibly talented Sandra Baggette. We got a tour of Beaufort and I just loved this horse and carriage. It was the most charming afternoon and I felt like I was right at home and in the right place all over again!

Bulldog Bling
8 x 10 Oil on Linen
$150.00
Had to find my blingiest bulldog to ring in the new year with. This dawg is hunting a party and then a bowl game. Perhaps Coach Richt would appreciate if we reverse that order and play great in the bowl game on Monday and then party! Go Dawgs!
This bulldog was put through his paces with several backgrounds. I kept changing it up like football plays in a scrimmage. Jim came in for the final touchdown play with a few strategic smears in all that gorgeous paint I had down. Loved it and glad I had help getting where I was trying to go!
Thanks to all of you that have been a special part of my journey this year. Happy New Year to everyone and I look forward to another amazing year growing as an artist.

Bulldog on the Field
6x 6 Oil on Linen
$100.00

This Bulldog (Elf wanna be) has all kinds of wishes for the holiday season for all our friends and followers. I am so thankful for all the fellowship, love and support I have had along the way this year. I started the year at a Leslie and Dreama workshop and ended it winning a consultation from Leslie in her 12 Days of Christmas Give Away. I am thrilled and thankful and just when I am ready to launch a new website. Suhh-weet!!
I have been on a warp speed journey and am so thankful to have gotten to learn from teachers like Nancy Franke and Carol Marine and am now in a Jim Richards mentoring group. The consistent immersed instruction over the last 6 months has made an incredible difference in my art. I can’t wait to see what 2012 brings and look forward to sharing the journey with you all.
Thank you everyone for teaching me, believing in me, following, collecting my art and most importantly being a friend. My wish to you all is simply for Merry Everything and Happy Always!
