>My dog bowl is full. I was lucky enough to get some “real” photos of our UGA mascot approved by UGA friend, UGA Bulldog mascot owner and breeder, Sonny Seiler and taken by wonderful photographer Danny White. They are fabulous and I was beyond thrilled! So, I went in to my art mentoring with Jim Richards just loaded for bear…or in this case bulldogs. I have painted 5 different fabulous bulldogs in the last 2 days and am just woofing with happiness. Thanks to all for the help!
Jim is just the best and I got to learn so many nuggets by painting the same subject I can’t even tell you. One of my favorite things about mentoring with Jim is that we pick what inspires us and go after it. He gets right in there with you to help teach you what you need but through your subject matter and that is what makes those lessons stick. I picked this one to show as Pack Leader because I think so much came together for me on this one. I won’t make this post be a full book but getting to stretch knowing that Jim is there to catch me and help me get back on track is invaluable. I loved learning how to be controlled in my expressive creativity and that there is also a plan for that! Love backwards brushmarks!!! Who knew?!
See… I could go on forever but want to get this posted as I go back to mentoring early Friday morning and also tell you all that Jim is now offering 2 new workshops coming up that are 3 days-January 26-28 and February 16-18. Contact TAFAA at 770-301-6101.

Okay, now I have a new favorite. I get a new one every time you post. This bulldog is the best. So much spunk! Love the looseness and the exploding brushwork around him. I am getting ready to post a bull dog commission piece. Really fun. Who knew these dogs could be so cute?

Jim sounds like such a great teacher! I love how you left the background with just some brush work, I love the suggestion!

What a great little painting filled with lots of expression, I can really feel the little guys unlimited energy through your strokes. Sounds like you have a great mentor; I can also feel your gratitude oozing through your words. I'm happy for you.
