I have been learning from Jim Richards about 10 minute studies and how to build on them for bigger paintings. This started out as a self imposed 10 minute exercise just to see how much information I could get down on my own and build on. Jim checked me and then we began to tweak and make it into one of the sweetest little paintings from that. Clouds and skies are just a favorite subject of mine and Jim can flat out paint them and teach that too! Jim taught me that these are called popcorn clouds- have y’all ever heard that expression? I just love that. This little jewel turned into way more than just a 10 minute study and I love learning this way.

When to 'stop' is crucial - and you seem to have that down! I have never heard of popcorn clouds - but these clouds are just gorgeous! We did 10 minute studies in my class last week! We must be on the same wavelength! It surely gets you going! You did such a great job…I can read YOU all over this!
