This bulldog has been on my mind for quite some time. I painted the full dog at school one day and Jim complimented me that he felt it was my best Bulldog yet! I think I got so excited that I then could not decide about the background. I mean the background had to now live up to the subject matter! I basically benched him for a few months until I felt ready. I have been studying this style of brushwork and I finally just went for it and am really happy with how it turned out. I absolutely love this style of loose but controlled brushwork and it is a hard thing to master. You have to feel really confident and finally just go for it…but with a plan. And then you also have to think about the negative space. See…told you it was hard!!
Hope you like my Big Dawg too. Please click on him-photo or title to get a full image. I also put a close up glamour shot because he is just so fabulous:) Sic’Em is hanging out at the little Gallery wall at the UGA Golf Course. If you want to see him, please stop by! This price also includes the gorgeous Omega frame- Bulldawg done up right! This is a favorite and would look so good out in a fellow fans space!
I am heading to paint Plein Air at Saint Simon’s Island for a few days. Suhhhh-weet!

Un bouledogue qui a une belle bouille… Il a une allure très chic ! J’aime son allure avec son manteau rouge.
Gros bisous

This is one fantastic painting-the different directions of the brush strokes on the face are marvelous. You really nailed this one. Have fun at St. Simons and tell my granddaughter hello if you see her. She came by here for a few days on her way to St. Simons for the week-end.

Thank goodness my info comes up on your blog! I thought I already commented on this big boy! Yeah, he looks tough, but I think we can all tell by his sweet face that he’s a lover, not a fighter! Lovely brushwork, gorgeous color…
