UGA III National Championship Bulldog Surprise
18 x 24 Oil on Linen
I am so happy and thankful to be a part of a really special surprise that involved my UGA Bulldogs. It seems that everything just came back full circle with this painting in so many ways. Long story short, long time college friends and fabulous former UGA Basketball player, Mark Slonaker, was coming up on a birthday. His awesome wife, Kathy, wanted to surprise him with a special bulldog painting for his office on campus and seeing as how Mark is now the Executive Director of the Bulldog Club that was just perfectly fitting. Add in that we all went to school together and I also coached at UGA along with Mark and it just can’t get much better. Well, wait it can…icing on the cake is my teacher, Jim Richards giving me the confidence to complete one of my best paintings and that Sonny Seiler just loved the idea of Mark having a special painting done that ties us all together. This bulldog, UGA III, was the mascot during our time there and was a special part of the national championship football team.
I appreciate the opportunity to paint this big ole’ gorgeous dog and have had the best time with this. I can’t wait to see it hanging proudly and representing over on campus and will post some photos of that big event. Sometimes things just come back full circle and it is so doggone special!
Thanks Kathy and Happy Birthday Mark!

Great news! Although I am not a Dawg fan (when you start painting Razorbacks or Commodores I will get really excited!) your dawgs are something special to see and I am sure will look great there!

Awesome painting and awesome challenge for you. And you met it in so many ways. I am so happy for you. If you see Vince Dooley around, be sure to tell him that we are good friends.

Love your smiling mascot but also love the way you handled the background with the blurry fan colors and the diagonal line of green foilage. Perfect!

This is your best bulldog yet, and the great story makes it all the more special. Cograts!

So this is definitely a painting that tells a story
other than a beautiful painting of a gorgeous dog.
