I find this peace in painting flowers that I am appreciating is a gift back to myself. I always have fresh flowers in my studio and learn so much studying them and then painting them. I always feel like I am painting a portrait and a connection to a treasured friend. I felt called to paint this one with a stronger color palette than normal for me. These roses had gorgeous light and shadow and were a colorful joy to paint.
